TCF Member Averill Mclean acknowledged in NSW Parliamentary Speech

Members well remember that in the FOCUS Winter Edition 2022, Issue 191 - we reported about the thoughtless placement of new bins at Mona Vale Beach, which were placed directly in front of a memorial bench for Stuart Kelly and Adam Sheffield (Averill’s son).

Thanks to Averill’s determination and her approaching and recruiting the aid of the then incumbent NSW MP - the bins were subsequently repositioned into a more suitable location.

Obviously the lack of sensitivity and the need for parents to be able to commemorate their children, was something very close to Mr Amon. He became a determined advocate on Averill’s behalf.

During his inaugural speech to the NSW House, Mr Amon became quite emotional about the impact of child loss and how he was determined to always support those in the community that have to face such adversity.

Averill had been invited to the session, was invited to stand by Mr Amon and acknowledged with applause from the whole house.

A job well done Averill and a credit to you and an amazing tribute to both Adam & Stuart.
