Why join us as a member

Bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents can become a member of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) NSW.

Close family and friends of a bereaved family member can also become an associate member.

Membership is completely free and gives you access to a caring, compassionate and supportive community who understands the grief of losing a child.

Before you become a member, you may wish to attend a couple of meetings to help you decide.

When you join, you will receive:

  • our quarterly magazine

  • notification of upcoming events

  • peer support

Members can also create a tribute to their beloved child on our Memorial Wall.

 Your personal information

We receive a grant from the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District each year. This covers some of the operating costs and allows us to help bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents throughout NSW.

The grant requires us to keep a record of all members. We record member details in our member database. Any personal data we collect is treated in accordance with current data protection legislation. It is only used for communication, and for other purposes to benefit members.

Membership types

TCF NSW offers four membership types

  • Member
    Open to all bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings

  • Associate Member
    Open to close family and friends who wish to join us to support bereaved family members.

  • Professional Member
    Open to individuals or organisations that wish to support us through financial means or professional support to our organisation or members.

  • Honorary Member
    May be granted to visiting members of other TCF organisations and chapters in other states of Australia.

How to register

Become a member by completing a membership registration form. The form is available as an online web form or a PDF which you can download and email or post to us.

We review all membership applications to:

  • make sure they are valid (not spam)

  • give new members initial

    • information

    • peer support

This means we may call you when we receive your application.

Memberships are valid for 1 year. We will contact you when it’s time to renew.
