Loss, Love and Fundrasing in memory of Anthony
…..by Michelle Lavorato
A huge thank you from your TCF Family
In February 2023 our beloved Son Anthony passed away suddenly. It absolutely ripped our hearts out. We were so lost without Our Son. I felt myself heading towards depression.
I knew I needed to seek help, but I did not want to see a counsellor as I thought, how could someone who has learnt from a book possibly understand the unimaginable pain I was going through? It may help others but for me, I felt I needed to talk to someone that understood my pain.
It was then I found The Compassionate Friends.
After being part of TCF for almost a year and half, and receiving the support that TCF have given us in our time of hardship, I wanted to somehow give back for all the support they have given us.
I went onto the TCF NSW website to make a donation and as I scrolled through the donate now page I came across ‘fundraise for this cause’ where you can create your own CrowdRaiser Fundraising page. We thought, what better way to help give back and raise money to allow TCF to continue helping others.
Under the ‘fundraise for this cause’ I clicked on ‘Create CrowdRaiser’, and created my fundraising page.
Once I filled in my details and selected TCF NSW as my crowdRaiser, I was also able to write my story as to why I would like to fundraise for TCF NSW. It was a great way to be able to mention my Son Anthony, and allow other people to read my story.
It also allows you to upload photos & or video of your loved one.
Once my CrowdRaiser was active I posted the link on social media with a short message about my fundraiser. I also requested my friends to share the link to their friends and family. The more people who shared and read our story the more money we could raise.
My crowdRaiser page was active for 6 months before it expired where we were able to raise over $800 for TCF NSW.
